This research utilized the 4D development model which consists of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The research data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches. The study was conducted at SDN 5 Rantepao with fifth-grade students as subjects, divided into three classes: Class A (19 students), Class B (20 students), and Class C (20 students). Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation, practicality questionnaires, and pretest–posttest. Data analysis was carried out both quantitatively and qualitatively. The validation results showed that the media obtained an average score of 4.72 with a very valid category. The practicality test demonstrated a positive response from teachers (4.80) and students (4.65), with an average of 4.72 (very practical). The effectiveness test indicated a significant improvement in student retention with an average pretest score of 67.6 and a posttest score of 88.0, and an N-Gain of 0.63 (effective category). Thus, the development of this Toraja folk tale-based Digital Storytelling can be an innovative learning medium relevant for strengthening understanding and preserving local culture in the elementary school environment.
