Artificial Intelligence: An Educational Game to Enhance Meaningful Learning as Character Strengthening in Elementary Schools

Today's learning innovations refer to artificial intelligence (AI) which demands the development of learning media that is not only interesting and interactive, but also able to facilitate meaningful learning and strengthen the character of elementary school students. This research aims to develop AI-based educational games that support active student engagement and shape character values through a fun digital context. The Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE approach is used up to the field trial stage. The game was developed based on the analysis of the needs of teachers and students as well as an independent curriculum with a Deep Learning approach for grade V of elementary school. The product combines thematic content and character values such as responsibility, cooperation, and honesty, featuring adaptive learning, AI-based performance analysis, and character missions with moral values. Expert validation shows the category is very valid with an average score of 92.5%. Trials in two elementary schools in Bogor City showed an increase in active student involvement, an average increase in learning outcomes of 23%, and more consistent positive behavior. AI-based educational games are effective as an innovative medium to improve material understanding and grow characters in a contextual and fun way.
