Keywords:
Problem Based Learning, Conceptual Understanding, Self-EfficacyAbstract
The aim of this study is to determine students' ability to understand mathematical concepts through the Problem Based model. Learning (PBL) in elementary school students in Makassar City. The urgency of this research is the importance of research data on students' conceptual understanding abilities, which can be a consideration for schools in mapping conceptual understanding abilities from a self-assessment perspective. efficacy in elementary schools in Makassar City. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive research with a survey method to obtain research data. The output of this study is a research instrument for the ability to understand mathematical concepts through the PBL model. The test instrument used will be examined by two experts ( expert validators ) and the results will be analyzed by the researcher. The research procedure is divided into three stages: the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the final stage. The results of the data analysis show that the mathematical problem- solving ability through the PBL learning model is mostly in the high and very high categories. Problem Based Learning Model Learning has an effect on students' mathematical concept understanding ability as seen from the significant difference in the average pretest and posttest results , in addition, the results of the problem- solving ability gain for both classes are in the moderate category. However, the average value of the gain in the concept understanding ability of the Problem Based learning model Learning pairs are higher than the Problem Based learning model Learning in groups. In addition, self-efficacy skills to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts of elementary school students in Makassar City.
